Have you had your Mango today?

During National Library Week, we want to highlight a few services you may not have tried yet. Siouxland Libraries provides access to online resources that are not part of the free web--but they're free to you, with your library card!

One such resource is Mango, a comprehensive language-learning program with over 30 languages. Perhaps you are traveling to Mexico and would like to brush up on your Spanish...or you have made a new Finnish friend and want to call him to say "Mita kuuluu?" (What's up?) Each language has a basic course of at least 10 lessons, and many of the more common languages have intermediate courses with hundreds of lessons. An audio component in the voice of a native speaker helps you perfect your pronunciation, and exercises and quizzes are designed to make the vocabulary and grammar lessons stick with you. Create a profile to keep track of your learning and pick up where you left off each time.

If you know anyone who is working to learn English, Mango also has extensive ESL programs for speakers of fifteen common languages such as Spanish, Arabic, and Chinese.

Try Mango today! You can access it from our homepage--look for the Mango logo on the right-hand side. Enter your library card number and PIN (the last four digits of your phone number) and start learning!
