September 24-October 1, 2011 is Banned Books Week, a time to recognize the First Amendment rights that give us access to the reading material of our choice. There are lots of ways to celebrate our freedom to read--the American Library Association has some ideas for activities and advocacy here. You can even participate in a Virtual Read Out by posting a video of yourself reading from your favorite banned book.
We invite you to play a little game with us on our Facebook page: throughout the week, we'll be posting clues describing frequently challenged and banned books. See if you can be the first to guess the book we're referring to and post your guess as a comment. The clues may pertain to the title or the plot of the story. Have fun with it--we know we will--and rejoice in your right to read!
